OSPITI INASPETTATI. CASE DI IERI, DESIGN DI OGGI
Every year, Cosmit - the association responsible for organising the Salone del Mobile, prepares a cultural exhibition, exploring the latest themes in design. This year the initiative takes design to places where it has never been before: The Milanese House Museums. These 4 exceptional examples of historic domestic architecture - The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, the Boschi Di Stefano House Museum, Villa Necchi Campiglio and the Poldi Pezzoli Museum constitute a precious and unique historical resource.
The exhibition 'Ospiti inaspettati. Case di ieri, Design di oggi' (Unexpected Guests. Yesterday's Homes, Today's Design) 11 March -2 May 2010 brings over 200 pieces of modern design, dating from 2000 to the present day into these 4 houses, creating dialogue with the historic settings and underlining thematic similarities to surprising yet harmonious effect. The 'guests' on show are the work of the world's leading designers and produced by industry's leading brands.
Among the pieces selected by curator Beppe Finessi and art director Italo Lupi, Casamania is present with the Valises by Maarten De Ceulaer. This iconic piece has been placed to great effect in the luxurious 'Bagno del Principe' in the rationalist mansion Villa Necchi Campiglio, designed by Piero Portalupi in the mid 1930s.
