From 3rd to 25 of July, world’s attention will be firmly focused on the 97th edition of the historical cycling race. This year the tour boasts an introductory stage, followed by 20 official stages covering a total distance of 3,642 km. Casamania, Frezza and the Doimo Group will be at the heart of the action as key sponsors of the cycling team LIQUIGAS-DOIMO, winners of this years Giro d’Italia.
This new book from publishers DAAB explores the increasing importance of colour in contemporary architecture and interior design. This being the theme, the work of Karim Rashid is a perfect fit. Several interior projects by the American designer are featured inside the book, and among the many products on show, the KANT stool, designed by Karim for Casamania, in the ‘technodelic’ spaces created by the designer for the Deutsche Bank Lounge.
German publishing house Edel has just released the latest editions of their furniture and design&living year books for 2010/2011. Each book contains interviews with leading designers (in this case Alfredo Haberli and Arik Levy and sets out the most important trends and alluring pieces of contemporary design presented each year from design events around the world. DESIGNCAFE, the restaurant at the Triennale di Milano, is one of the most renowned spaces in the world of milanese design. A place to meet, the DESIGNCAFE also hosts exhibitions, presentations and conferences. The restaurant is characterised by a simple and neutral decor, leaving center-stage for the extraodinary collection of chairs, where visitors can relax and enjoy their meal whist sitting on some of the most iconic pieces created by historic and emerging designers. The space is in constant evolution, with new pieces selected periodically to update the collection. Casamania's chair HER by Fabio Novembre has been selected for this important collection.
Once Upon a Chair, the new book published by Gestalten (edited by Klanten, Ehmann, Kupetz and Moreno) is an international, up to the minute survey of contemporary furniture design. It examines current trends and presents pioneering examples of the worlds most influential designers and emerging talents. Among the selection, a wide range of pieces from the Casamania collection including: Lobby by StokkeAustad; Alieno by GamFratesi and the limited edition version of the Valises by Maarten De Ceulaer.
On the 8th of May this year's edition of the Giro d'Italia will begin. The Giro is undoubtedly one of the world's most important sporting events, embodying key sporting values like excellence, strength, positivity, innovation and passion - the same values which lay at the heart of the Casamania brand. It is for this reason that Casmania, Frezza and the Doimo Group have decided to sponsor the cycling team "Liquigas-Doimo". Following the excellent results achieved by the Liquigas-Doimo team last year, this year the team and the Giro will surely keep the public enthralled. The adventure starts out in Amsterdam in Holland and finishes in the splendid, romantic setting of Verona. Casamania products will be present throughout, furnishing the RCS lounge spaces and stage/television set for the "post-stage" transmission "Processo alla Tappa".

Casamania continues its adventures into the world of sport. In the wake of the extraordinary success of the LIQUIGAS DOIMO cycling team, the treviso based brand has now made its entrance into the world of the GP2, sponsoring the Team Piquet Sports. GP2 is a special circuit based motor-racing category created by the International Automobile Federation in 2005.
Casamania will furnish the lounge areas to be set up at each of the events scheduled for the 2009 racing season: Barcelona, Montecarlo, Silverstone, Valencia, Nurburgring, Budapest, Istanbul and Spa. During their rare moments for relaxation, drivers, team members and guests will be able to enjoy the Bek Chair by Giulio Iacchetti, the Vad tables by Luca Nichetto and the Opus Incertum by Sean Yoo.
Over the last few years, Casamania has supported with leading television programmes both in Italy and overseas. This year is no different, with Casamania working with the Rai 2 reality Talent show X Factor. A selection of Casamania products have been used to animate some of the most show's most inspirational moments: behind the scenes. The rehearsal room is furnished used the bright and vivacious Kant stools (Karim Rashid), and the Kubo table (Loris Lucatello). On stage, the Maria leaves (Luca Nichetto) will attract the attention of the audience, being selected by X Factor's art director Luca Tommassini to add a touch of colour to the Wednesday evening's 'live' show.
The Lisbona club located on board the cruise ship Costa Concordia has been furnished with x-tile chairs. The chairs are part of a unique interplay of lines and signs. The interior design, created by Joseph Farcus is notable in its strong kitsch feel where the wealth of details create an idyllic atmostphere.
The ADI Permanent Design Observatory has selected the BEK chair by Giulio Iacchetti for publication in the ADI DESIGN INDEX 2008. With a jury of over 100 design experts, this marks the beginning of the selection process for the XII Premio Compasso d'Oro, one of the world's most prestigious design awards. The selection of the BEK chair will be formalised at the official presentation of the ADI INDEX, to be held 1 July at the Triennale di Milano.
The BEK folding chair Giulio Iacchetti has been recognised in the important ADI DESIGN CODEX 2008 by the delegation responsable for the North Eastern region of Italy as part of their Design Observatory - an official recognition awarded bi-monthly for excellence in design culture, creativity and entrepreneurial quality. Using a series of pre-established criteria, ADI selects those products which combine design, experimentation, research and innovation. Design is more than a mere aesthetic patina applied to a product; it is an integral part in the creation of a product and an element which constitutes part of the project from its creation and production through to its final implementation.
This year the Giro d’Italia celebrates 100 years of history, a century of glory which has made it one of the most celebrated sporting events in the world. A competition which embodies key sporting values: excellence, strength, positivity, innovation and passion. The same values which lay at the heart of Casamania’s company spirit. For this reason Casamania, Frezza and the Gruppo Doimo have decided to sponsor the ‘Liquigas’ cycling team, now known as ‘Liquigas Doimo’. Casamania will take its distinctive style to the road, furnishing the presentation podium of the “La Gazzetta dello Sport”; the lounge areas created at each stage and decorating the television sets for channel Rai Tre. The jury of the Design Forum Finland has awarded the honour of 'Young Designer of the year 2009' to Mikko Laakkonen for the 'freshness and sensibility of his projects'. According to the jury, Mikko Laakkonen has found a way of giving new spirit to objects which have already been designed innumerable times - such as the table or chair.
The prestigious international jury of the Elle Decoration International Design Awards 2009 has awarded Luca Nichetto winner of the special category Young Designer Talent. The jury, composed of editors from the 24 different international editions that make up the Elle Decoration network, took in account the aesthetics, sense of irony and innovation which connote Luca Nichetto’s design. Nichetto’s designs have been produced in collaboration with many international brands, including the leading brands of Design Made in Italy. The collaboration between Casamania and Luca Nichetto began in 2005 with his first project, the Jerry lamp. In the following years the collaboration takes shape giving light to a range of pieces which have become icons in the Casamania catalogue: the VAD Chair and Table, the BEN GRIMM modular sofa, the MARIA decorative element, the STEREO chair and the NUANCE armchair which will be presented at Milan’s Salone del Mobile 2009.
A +13 will be in "Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe" in Amburgo: some products designed by famous architects create wonderful garden of things.
